Love Social Media? Help Us Spread the Word About TouchPoint

Do you enjoy scrolling Instagram and Facebook, spotting great local content, and thinking "we should be doing more of this"? If so, we might have the perfect volunteer role for you.

We're looking for a Marketing and Communications Volunteer to help us grow TouchPoint's presence on social media and in the local press, with a special focus on our TouchPoint Radio station. It's a brilliant opportunity for anyone who's confident online, loves connecting with people, and wants to make a real difference to how our community sees and hears about the work we do.

What's the role about?

It's simple: help spread the word about TouchPoint. That means telling our story on social media, building relationships with local publications, and making sure our partnerships and community news reach as many people as possible.

You'll be working closely with our Marketing and Communications Head, along with support from our Radio Station Manager, and our Communications Trustee.

What you'll actually be doing

On the social media side, you'll:

  • Create and post content that highlights our partnerships, tagging and collaborating with partners around three to four times a week

  • Repost local content that matters to our community, both in posts and stories

  • Keep an eye out for relevant local pages and accounts, sharing content our audience will love

  • Get stuck into local groups and conversations, engaging with individuals and organisations nearby

  • Reply to messages and comments from our followers

  • Help promote TouchPoint Radio shows featuring our partners and other relevant guests

On the PR side, you'll:

  • Build relationships with editors and feature writers at local publications such as parish magazines and local newspapers

  • Share content created by the team with those contacts, helping our stories reach a wider audience

Who we're looking for

What matters most is that you're comfortable using social media, particularly Facebook and Instagram. If you've used Meta for Business or the design tool Canva before, that's a bonus — but honestly, don't worry if you haven't. We'll give you all the training you need to get up to speed.

The commitment

This role works around your life. You'll need about four hours a week, and you can do it entirely from home, or from the TouchPoint office during office hours if you'd prefer. All you need is your own laptop or desktop computer.

Why volunteer with us?

Every post you create, every local editor you reach out to, and every conversation you have online helps more people discover TouchPoint and the partnerships that make our work possible.

If you're interested, we'd love to hear from you. Email volunteer@thetouchpoint.org with your contact details and a few lines about yourself, and we'll get back to you.
