Our new Community Food Share scheme is up and running!

We’re excited to have launched our new Community Food Share scheme this month, and so delighted with how well it has been received.

What is a Community Food Share? It’s all about reducing food waste! We help to distribute produce which supermarkets would otherwise dispose of but is still perfectly good to eat.

We have been working with local supermarkets to collect food at the end of the day that would otherwise be thrown away. We then invite the community along to our building here at Crafton Green to help themselves to whatever they want – for free. The idea is to reduce the amount of food going into landfill, and it’s been a great success so far.

A big thank you to the local Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Waitrose stores for supporting the project. We’ve had a great variety of produce on offer from vegetables to baked goods, and fruit to cut flowers.

We’d also like to thank our volunteers for all their help with collecting the food and manning the stalls. We’re planning to make this a regular thing, so if you would like to get involved, please get in touch! Every extra pair of hands is a real help. Just email us on volunteer@thetouchpoint.org and we will get back to you.
